The Website
After the Sloughis in 2005 had been taken into the care of the RSPCA, we were
concerned about how these dogs would be rehomed given their poor physical and mental state. We decided to set up a separate website publicising these wonderful rescue dogs, and with the kind co-operation of the RSPCA centres where the dogs were held, were given permission to use their photos and descriptions to further help these dogs in need.
Due to the Sloughi Club in the UK having no official rescue at the time, a small group of volunteers outside of the Sloughi Club formed this group, some with their own rescue Sloughis, some without. However we all share the same love of the breed and concern for the welfare of the dogs coming into rescue. Since this website has been set up, the UK Sloughi Club have informed us that they have now set up an official rescue. They are also now taking steps to ensure all Sloughis in the UK have DNA profiles held with the Kennel Club so all future dogs that may end up in rescue can be identified easily. Although we are not part of the UK Sloughi Club we now work with them to help promote any dogs in rescue.
The original website is now closed, however this new website has been set up for several reasons:
- To promote any Sloughis in rescue Worldwide
- To tell the stories of the rescue Sloughis that are now rehomed
- To tell the stories of our other animals that live with the Sloughis, you can find these at the bottom of some of the individual Sloughi pages
- To offer any support and advice for potential new owners who are interested in rehoming a Sloughi
- To promote sighthound rescue
