Sox
Sox belonged to a flatmate of mine who I lived with briefly in the mid 90’s. She moved out quite suddenly one day and told me she couldn’t take Sox so could I take her to the local RSPCA centre. When I told her that I couldn’t do that and would have to keep her, she told me she had been quietly confident I would say that – and so it was that I ended up with my first cat. She was a tiny little thing, but as hard as nails.
She gave Jack the hardest time when he first came home (peed in his bed on a regular basis, chased him round the garden, and would hide at the top of the stairs and pounce on him when he got to the top).
She was also king pin of the neighbourhood and I was regularly apologising to my neighbours for her scrapping with their cats. I was also told by a neighbour that she regularly tormented their indoor cats by parading around on their patio during the day taunting them through the glass…….
When Oscar arrived I wasn’t sure how she would take it. She had been vile to Jack even though he was a small pup at the time. Oscar was already fully grown. However she took to him immediately, they played together all the time and she would lay with him in the winter to keep warm.
She took an instant dislike to Jake when he arrived. One swift whack on the nose and he knew that this was not a girl to be messed with. She was definitely Oscar’s girl, and the Lurchers were more than happy to leave it that way!
