Suma the Lurcher

..ok. Ok, ok. I know. Yes, I am NOT a bloody rescue sloughi. I just happen to live with loads of them! And no I don't have my own bloody website and no I wasn't locked in a shed for years - I just thought it was about time that I had a chance to say my bit. You see, for some reason, I was in BCDH aswell. I had been taken back there loads of times - twice by the same woman! Can't believe I had to stay in that place with all those dogs everywhere. Anyway, I got to live in a nice place in Bath - not bad for a lad from Ireland - and mum and dad are here most of the time to keep me company. I am quite happy, we've got SkyTV and when Aunty Louise comes over me and dad take her home in the car. So I get to have a pose around and see whats happening.
Anyway, a couple of years ago mum and dad come back with this dog - one of those rescue sloughis that had a hard time. Bless him, poor bugger. He'd had a hard life, old Leo, and obviously enjoyed a pie or two. Keeps himself to himself, but he's not a bad sort. Every now and then he will burst into life! Then last summer, another sloughi turns up - it's this old girl, apparently Leo's auntie, and she'd been to Crufts! Very posh. Did quite well, apparently. I reckon if I was a dog, I'd be at Crufts. Anyway, she's a good old girl. And when mum and dad pop out for a coffee, I have to look after them both. I've tried to get them to play a bit, but they seem very contented to take life easy.
And then in February, we all pile in the Shogun. I have to sit in the back to keep an eye on Vicky and Leo (or Le Le as mum calls him! ha!)and we are driving for hours! I thought we must be off on holiday, but I hadn't packed anything, so I was somewhat bemused. So we arrive at this rescue centre, and I am a bit concerned - we are not getting another dog, are we? We've got two already and, ok, we all feel sorry for them but not another one! Surely not!
Well, I take Leo and Vicky into the play area and have a sniff around to see what's going down. And then she appears - a vision of beauty! She really is lovely, and she comes leaping over to give me kisses and wants to play. She is mad as jam, very exciteable but totally drop dead gorgeous and I am smitten! We all budge up in the Shogun and take her home. On the way back she tells me all about herself, another sloughi, and Vicky is sighing 'freya, freya'. She's had a bad time, but she had done some modelling at Crufts and was a real babe. She was mega nervous at first; she wouldn't even come and get breakfast or a drink, but you should see her now!
I knew it would be down to me to help her out, and, like I say it was love at first sight. We love running about together, we play loads and loads and she is my true partner in crime for chasing. Just one thing - she's got this annoying habit of trying to nick any toy I am playing with, and mum and dad just thing its funny!
Anyway, that's my story on these sloughis. From where I am sitting, they have got it bloody easy, but I am really pleased they are all here. They are all different, posh old granny, moody old leo and the sexy Streaky. Stupid name, but that's my girl! Just hope mum and dad don't get any more dogs!
